VNUS Closure Procedure

Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (VNUS Closure®)

Endovenous RF (aka the ‘Closure’ procedure) is a cutting edge, minimally-invasive vein procedure that has essentially replaced traditional vein surgery or stripping, in a specialists hands. A small catheter is also used and inserted into the vein, and radiofrequency energy is directed into the vein wall, gently warming the vein until it closes down. The procedure is done in the office, under local anesthesia, and patients are usually able to walk and resume normal activity right away (commonly with compression stockings in place). If our patients prefer sedation to make them more comfortable, this procedure can also be performed in any of our outpatient surgery centers, located in Manhattan as well as nearby New Jersey.
